Brakebush Transportation Unveils Special Wreaths Across America Trailer in Honor of Sgt. Andy Stevens

Westfield, WI | 12/3/23

Today marks a significant milestone for the Brakebush team as we proudly unveil a specially designed trailer dedicated to Wreaths Across America. Over the past year, we have worked diligently behind the scenes to create a trailer that holds deep meaning and pays tribute to the memory of a true American hero, Sgt. Andy Stevens.

Sgt. Andy Stevens holds a special place in our hearts as he was not only a dedicated Marine but also a childhood friend of our NC Terminal Manager, Kevin Randall, and his twin brother, Karl Randall, who also served as a dispatcher in Westfield. Even before graduating high school, Karl and Andy bravely decided to enlist in the Marine Corps together. They embarked on their journey together, attending boot camp side by side and later working as recruiter assistants before their paths diverged within the Marines.

In Honor of Sgt. Stevens

Andy's commitment to duty and his country led him to become a decorated Scout Sniper and Infantry Squad Leader, and he was on his second deployment in Iraq when tragedy struck. On December 1st, 2005, Sgt. Andy Stevens was one of 10 Marines who tragically lost their lives due to the detonation of an improvised explosive device (IED). Karl served as a recruiter in Madison at the time and played a pivotal role in Sgt. Stevens's funeral details from his arrival in Wisconsin to his final resting place. In a poignant photograph, Karl can be seen as the Marine on the back right, carrying Andy to the hearse in the middle of a Wisconsin blizzard.

"Today, on the 18th anniversary of this heart-wrenching loss in Iraq, we had the profound honor of revealing our trailer to Sgt. Stevens's father, Allen, and stepmother, Deb. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the entire Stevens Family for graciously allowing us to commemorate Andy's memory on our Wreaths Across America trailer. This trailer serves as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by brave men and women who selflessly defend our freedoms. It also serves as a tribute to the Gold Star Families who must celebrate the holidays without their beloved family members.

As we unveil this special trailer, we encourage everyone to take a moment to remember and honor our courageous service members and their families. Let us unite in gratitude and reflection, especially during this holiday season, as we pay homage to the heroes who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation." -Mike Schwersenska, General Manager Brakebush Transportation.
